“Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.”
Have you ever wondered why it is that even though we seem to have so much of what this world has to offer, we remain largely dissatisfied and constantly hunger for more? More food, more drink, more clothes, more money, more success, more recognition, just more! The reason for this unexplained hunger we have inside of us is that nothing this world has to offer will ever fully satisfy us.
The writer of the Our Daily Bread article for November 24, 2017 states is this way, “Beneath all our longings is a deep desire for God.”
C.S. Lewis in his book Mere Christianity writes “If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.”
That unexplained hunger inside you is because you have been disconnected with your creator, and it is only through reconnecting with Him through faith in Jesus Christ will that hunger ever be satisfied. Only Jesus can truly fill that hole in your heart that you have been trying to fill with the things of this world.
St. Augustine writes, “You have made us for Yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You.”
