“Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.”
It is important for us to realize that the many natural calamities that have been happening around the world these last several months are not a surprise to us who believe in and follow Jesus Christ and study His Word. For Jesus clearly spoke about these things happening as signs that confirm and point to His eventual return.
While we grieve for those affected by these natural and man made calamities, we know that these signs tell us that we cannot afford to be complacent and lackadaisical with regard to to our faith, but that we have to take our faith seriously and recognize our responsibilities as God’s people in this world. WE MUST BE READY FOR HIS RETURN!
During the last weeks of the pregnancies of our three sons, Babette always had a ready bag at hand to bring to the hospital because she knew it could happen at any time, at even the most inopportune of times. This is the same kind of readiness we must have as followers of Jesus as we eagerly anticipate the second coming of our Lord and Saviour. The question is, “ARE YOU READY FOR THE RETURN OF JESUS?” Because ready or not, He will be coming back.
God bless you all.
